South Central Regional Jail Launches Inpatient Treatment Center

Overcrowding is a major challenge in WV’s state prison system. This causes inmates to be housed for longer and longer periods of time in the state’s regional jail system awaiting transfer to a state prison. The Southwestern Regional Jail in Logan County, WV recently opened an inpatient drug treatment center to allow inmates waiting to transfer out to the state prison system an option for drug rehabilitation.

PA Pushes Legalized States Closer to Tipping Point

Welcome to Pennsylvania Sign

Pennsylvania just became the 24th state to legalize medical cannabis. Even though it may be as long as 2 years before the regulations are written and medication becomes available to patients, the law allows a “safe harbor” provision for families who obtain cannabis oils for their children with severe seizure disorders to get the oils from out-of-state without fear of prosecution. With Ohio and several other states on a fast-track to get ballot measures approved in time for the general election in November, it should not be long before more than half of the states in the U.S. have legalized medical cannabis.

What happens when we reach the tipping point of 26 states or more? Will the federal government be forced to finally take action?
